Hunting with the Ogiek people - Kenya
Bows and arrows, hunting dogs and virgin forest! The Ogiek are a small and endangered tribe living in the highlands of central Kenya. Contact with westerners is usually very restricted. In 2013, we were granted exclusive permission to join a hunting party into the Mau Forest, the traditional hunting ground of the Ogiek. For two days, we tracked our prey through dense and humid forest, wary at all times of the risk of ambush by hyenas or deadly buffalo. A truly unique glimpse into humanity’s ancient connection with our natural environment in a relationship that has been kept alive by these incredible people for millennia.
